MISSION:

The Scituate Maritime Center (SMC) provides a multi-use facilities building to enhance the experience of people visiting the Scituate Marine Park, so they may enjoy the town of Scituate’s environmental, recreational, historical and cultural treasures. The Maritime Center offers recreation and educational opportunities to be enjoyed while preserving open space and Scituate’s maritime history.

On behalf of the Town of Scituate, the Scituate Waterways Commission and the Harbormaster’s Office would like to express our sincere thanks to the many individuals, the South Shore Vocational Technical High School, and the many business contributors for the support of time, materials, and contributions for the development of the Scituate Maritime Center.  While much development will continue over the next few years, we are pleased to report that the building will be open for the season soon for both patrons of the marina and visitors who wish to see the beautiful vista from the deck of the SMC.

USE OF THE SMC FACILITIES:

The front part of the SMC is open to all.  The meeting room in the back of the building, facing the harbor, can accommodate between 40 and 70 comfortably depending on furniture utilized.  For a nominal fee the room can be rented by public and private groups for lectures, club meetings, concerts, bridal showers, wedding receptions, christenings, parties, art shows, recitals, etc.  The building provides full access for those with disabilities.  A large parking lot adjoins the building.

Under the auspices of the Harbormaster, the scheduling and renting of the SMC is handled by the Scituate Maritime Center Foundation, soon to be a 501(c)3 charitable organization.  Rental rates for Hall use are affordable and priced to allow community groups and private citizens to be able to enjoy this beautiful building. Still, it is recommended that potential users book the hall well in advance of the event, in order to avoid disappointment.
